UTEP senior Natasha Lacy has been selected as an Honorable-Mention Associated Press All-American, it was announced Tuesday afternoon.

The native of El Paso, Texas, becomes the second player in the 34-year history of the program to grab All-America accolades. Former Miner great Sharon Jackson was so honored during the 1983-84 campaign by the American Women Sports Federation (AWSF).

Lacy, who concluded a stellar collegiate campaign recently with the Orange and Blue, played a large role in the Miners' record-setting campaign.

The Conference USA Newcomer of the Year made an immediate impact at UTEP after transferring from TCU. She finished eighth in the country in steals per game and set a school record with 108 total thefts. She was second on the squad in assists (156), scoring (13.0 ppg) and third in rebounding (5.9 rpg) and total blocks (20).

She filled up the stat sheet like very few can, as the second-team all-league honoree was second in C-USA in steals, fifth in assists, sixth in assist-to-turnover ration, 10th in defensive rounding, 12th in scoring and 17th in overall rebounding.

Lacy's experience gained at TCU (three berths to the NCAA tournament in as many years) proved to be crucial. The Miners, who had never competed in any postseason tournament in program history prior to this year, played a flawless game in the opening-round dismantling of Western Kentucky.

Lacy, who is working toward completing her master's degree, is a potential pick in the upcoming WNBA draft which will be held on April 9.
