IRVING, Texas - East Carolina picked up its fifth tournament championship in six events Tuesday afternoon at the 2008 Qdoba Invitational. The tournament was being held at the par-72, 6,210-yard Don Shula Golf Resort. Abby Bools guided the Pirates (70-14-0) to the title with a two-over-par 218 (75-72-71) and recorded her second individual title and fourth top-10 finish of the season. For her efforts she was named C-USA Golfer of the Week.

WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK (2/20)
ABBY BOOLS - East Carolina

Bools captured her second individual title of the season and of her career after carding a personal-best 54-hole score of 218 (2-over par) at the Qdoba Invitational Tuesday afternoon in Miami, Fla. She helped the Pirates (70-14-0), who are nationally-ranked No. 22, to their fourth consecutive team title and fifth in six events in 2007-08. The Pirates led their third consecutive event wire-to-wire. Bools tied for the tournament lead in par-4 scoring (+1), while ranking among the leaders in par-3 scoring (+1), par-5 scoring (E) and total pars (41). With her win, she becomes the third Lady Pirate golfer to claim two titles in the same season. In 16 career tournaments, she has a 76.43 stroke average with seven top-10 finishes and 10 top-20's.The weekly honor is the third of Bools' career, her second in 2007-08 (Sept. 26).

OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
TIA GANNON - SMU

Gannon led SMU to an 11th-place finish at the Central District Invitational at the River Wilderness Golf Club. The Mustangs finished tied with Oklahoma and two spots ahead of Baylor. After All-C-USA golfer Kate Ackerson had to withdraw due to injury, Gannon stepped up and finished tied for 23rd at 77-75-78=230 to lead the Mustangs. The second-round 75 tied for her best round as a collegian.

JESSY TANG - UCF
Tang fired a two-round total of 142 (-2) to help lead the Knights to a tri-match victory over No. 15 Purdue and Iowa State on Saturday (Feb. 9) at the NorthShore Golf Club. Tang posted rounds of 72 (E) and 70 (-2) in the 36-hole event to register the lowest score among the 18 competitors.

No. 21 EAST CAROLINA

For her efforts she was named C-USA Golfer of the Week... Freshman Amber Littman (221) finished in fifth... ECU extended its school record by picking up its fifth team title of the year... Bools became the third Pirate golfer to claim two titles in the same season... In 5-of-6 events this season, the Pirates had at least two golfers finish in the top-5... ECU will hit the links again on March 9 when they travel Pinehurst, N.C. for the Pinehurst Challenge.

MARSHALL
Whitney Wolejko shot a team-best 77 as Marshall improved two spots to finish the UAB Beach Bash in 11th place Nov. 5-6... Wolejko was one of four MU golfers to shoot an 81 or lower... Two strokes behind Wolejko was Andrea Grier, who shot a 79, followed by an 80 from Larie Lynch and an 81 from Molly Ginger... Ginger, who shot a 74 to lead the Herd on day one, tied for 18th place overall with a total of 155 (+11)... Lynch tied for 26th with a 157... This marked the final tournament of Marshall's fall season... The team's next competition will be the weekend of March 9 when the Herd travels to Pinehurst, N.C., for the Pinehurst Challenge.

MEMPHIS
With three golfers participating in FIU's Pat Bradley Championship, Memphis wrapped up its fall schedule in Fort Meyers, Fla Oct. 29-30... Rachel Larson, Alexa Porter and Dawn-Marie Conaty finished the tournament and both Larson and Porter finished in the top-20 individually... Larson paced the Tigers with a 225 (74-77-74) for sole possession of 12th place while Porter, three strokes behind (74-77-77, 228) ended her fall campaign with a 15th-place finish. Conaty (82-76-79, 237) finished 39th... The Tigers will begin their spring season at Campbell University's Fighting Camel Classic in Buies Creek, N.C., on Feb. 25.

SMU
SMU finished in an 11th-place tie in its spring opener on Tuesday, carding a three-round total of 935 at the Central District Invitational at the River Wilderness Golf Club... The Mustangs finished tied with Oklahoma and two spots ahead of Baylor... SMU finished the event without standout Kate Ackerson, who had to withdraw after round one due to injury... Freshman Tia Gannon led SMU, finishing tied for 23rd (77-75-78=230)... Sarah Dodson was steady, carding a 234 (79-76-79) to tie for 34th... All-Conference performers Lacey Jones (77-81-78=236) and Laura Cross (84-80-78=242) had uncharacteristically tough outings, tying for 41st and 58th, respectively... The Mustangs return to the links March 7-9 at the Texas A&M "Mo"Morial in Bryan, Texas.

SOUTHERN MISS
Southern Miss shot a team-best 309 in the final round to finish in 11th-place at the Qdoba Invitational... The tournament was played at the Don Shula Resort... Freshmen Virginia Espejo and Jennifer Judge shot 76 and 75, respectively, to close out the event for three-round totals of 235 and a tie for 40th-place... Sophomore Samantha Holt tied for 48th after shooting a 78 for a total of 239... Juniors Heather Golden and Kate Burns round out the Lady Eagles by shooting an 80 and 81, respectively... Southern Miss will take a week off before getting back to the links, March 3-4, at the South Alabama hosted Lady Jaguar Invitational in Mobile, Ala.

TULSA
Tulsa finished in fifth at The Landfall Tradition to close out its fall schedule on Oct. 26-28... Senior Michaela Cavener led the Hurricane with a fourth-place finish in the individual race at the par-72 at the Country Club of Landfall... The Hurricane carded a final round 300 and finished with a score of 900... Cavener, propelled by her four-under 68 on Saturday, carded a one-over par 73 today and finished the 54-hole event with a score of three-over par 219 to finish in a three-way tie for fourth place... It marked the third top-7 finish in four fall tournaments for Cavener... Tulsa will next be back in action until Feb. 25-26 at the Fresno State Invitational.

UAB
UAB concluded its second annual UAB Fall Beach Blast Nov. 5-6 in 13th place with a two-round score of 657 at The Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club... The Blazers shot 323 on day two, an 11-stroke improvement from their score of 334 during round one... UAB's top performers were freshmen Lindsay Taylor and Jaime Brabb, who both ended with scores of 163 to tie for 45th overall... The tournament marked the final event of the fall season for the Blazers... UAB will return to action March 3-4 when it competes in the USA Lady Jaguar Invitational in Mobile, Ala.

UCF
UCF defeated Iowa State and No. 15 Purdue in a 36-hole tri-match between the three schools on Saturday...The Knights posted 21 points to secure the team title in what served as a tune-up before their first spring tournament... The teams, who played the NorthShore course at a yardage of 6,150, used a modified Ryder Cup scoring system to keep track of the results and UCF freshman Jessy Tang took home medalist honors after firing a two-round total of 142 (-2)... Tang opened with a 70 (-2) on the opening 18 holes of the day, while carding an even-par 72 in her second 18... The Knights are back in action at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 24-26 in San Juan.

UTEP
UTEP concluded its fall season by finishing 13th in The Challenge at Wolfdancer in Austin, Texas on Nov. 5... UTEP posted a team score of 979 (331-314=334)... UTEP's Elizabeth Sobczak tied for 25th place (79-76-83=238)... Deborah Martinez tied for 35th place (83-77-80=240)... Shang-Fan Huang tied for 48th place (84-76-84=244) and Ana Pastor finished 64th (85-85-88=258)... The Miners return to the course March 7-9 at the Texas A&M "Mo"Morial in Bryan, Texas.
