IRVING, Texas - Tulsa captured a one-stroke victory over Florida International at the UALR Women's Golf Classic on Tuesday. The Hurricane carded a final round 307 and finished the 54-hole event at the Diamante Golf Club with a 912 total.

A putt by senior Whitney Wolejko on the second playoff hole gave Marshall the win in Sunday's final round of the First Market Bank Intercollegiate. James Madison University, who began the day 10 strokes behind the Thundering Herd, overcame the deficit to force a playoff before Marshall prevailed in two playoff holes.

WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
KELLY FUCHIK - Tulsa

Fuchik finished in a fourth-place tie in a field of 105 golfers at the UALR Women's Golf Classic this week in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The freshman carded rounds of 72-74-78 for an 8-over par 224. The finish was her best of the season, and her third top-10 performance this spring. Her efforts helped Tulsa win its second straight tournament and its third in four events this spring. This is the second honor for Fuchik this spring as she also won the award on Feb. 27.

OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES
LARIE LYNCH - MARSHALL

Lynch shot a 153 en route to a tie for fourth place at this weekend's First Market Bank Invitational. The sophomore's play helped lead Marshall to the tournament win. In day one, Lynch shot a 75 and followed that up with a 78 in Sunday's final round. Marshall topped James Madison University in a two-hole playoff to decide the tournament.

No. 21 EAST CAROLINA
East Carolina's Emelie Lind was named the March 12 Conference USA Golfer of the Week for the second time this year after finishing second at the 2008 Pinehurst Challenge in Pinehurst, N.C... The Kungsangen, Sweden native recorded her fourth top-five finish and sixth top-20 placement when she finished four strokes out of first place with a five-over par 221 (75-74-72)... Lind recorded 37 pars on the weekend, which led the tournament field, and ranked third in par-4 scoring (+5) and tied for fifth in par-5 scoring (-1)... Lind has recorded six top-10 finishes and 14 top-20's in her career...Lind helped the Pirates (89-14-0), who are nationally ranked 20th by Golfweek, 28th by Golf World and 29th by Golfstat, to their fifth consecutive team title and sixth in seven events this season... The Lady Pirates will be back on the links March 29-30 when they travel to Tucson, Ariz. to participate in the Mountainview Collegiate.

MARSHALL

She shot a 75 in Saturday's opening round for a total of 153, six shots over par... After shooting a 74 on Saturday, Andrea Grier followed that up with an 81 on her way to a tie for sixth overall... Kristina Garrett finished third for Marshall, tying for 45th... The Herd will look to keep the momentum going following its weekend triumph as it will travel to the Cincinnati Spring Invite... The tournament will take place March 28-29 at the Plantation Inn Golf Club in Crystal River, Florida.

MEMPHIS
Memphis finished in a tie for eighth place out of a 16-team field at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii March 19... The Lady Tigers shot a 956 as a team during the 54-hole event... Senior Dawn-Marie Conaty and junior Rachel Larson each shot a 238 for the tournament to tie for 30th in the field... Freshman Alexa Porter tied for 35th with a 240 and sophomore Leslie Grabeman tied for 42nd after shooting a 242... The Lady Tigers will be back in action when they travel to Stockbridge, Ga. when they compete in the Lady Panther Intercollegiate in what will be the squads final tournament prior to the conference championships.

SMU
SMU senior Lacey Jones posted a solid final round at the 35th-annual Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational at The University of Texas Golf Club on Wednesday, March 19, and finished tied for 13th in the tournament... Jones carded a 78 over the final 18 while combating 25-mile per hour winds and finished at 14-over 158 for the 36-hole tournament... Laura Cross's 162 tied her for 32nd, while Paige Martin's 167 was good for 57th... Up next for the `Stangs is the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic in Norman, Okla., April 6.

SOUTHERN MISS
Southern Miss shot a final round 313 to tie for ninth place at the Gainesville Shootout III in Gainesville, Fla., March 15... It was the second straight top 10 finish for the Lady Eagles. They finished second at the USA Jaguar Invitational... Sophomore Samantha Holt finished in a tie for 21st after a closing round 79.. . Freshman Virginia Espejo shot a 75 to tie for 24th-place... Freshman Jennifer Judge shot an 87 to tie for 54th-place... Southern Miss returns to action April 7-8 when it hosts the Lady Eagle Invitational at Canebrake Golf Club.

TULSA

Seniors Michaela Cavener and Tara Goedeken finished in 13th and 15th place, respectively... Tulsa returns to the course Apr. 7-8 at the Cane & Cardinal Classic in Miami, Fla.

UAB ended its play at the Samford Intercollegiate March 18 with a three-round total of 949... The Blazers tied with Birmingham-Southern for 11th place in the 15-team tournament at Limestone Springs Golf Club... Junior Christina Wentworth and sophomore Carolyn Cochran led the Blazers by tallying identical scores of 233 to tie for 27th place in the individual standings... Freshman Lindsay Taylor tied for 43rd place with a three-round score of 238, while freshman Jaime Brabb placed 60th with a 245... Junior Alyson Mitchell finished 74th by carding a score of 255... UAB will be back in action on March 28-29 when they play in the Cincinnati Spring Invitational in Crystal River, Fla.

UCF
UCF concluded the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on Easter Sunday placing 17th in the 54-hole event... Junior May Tomimbang was the top Knight finisher, tying for 34th after shooting a 78 (+6) on Sunday to finish with a three-round total of 234 (+18)... Tomimbang's round was the low of the day for UCF... Classmate Stephanie Connelly was two strokes behind Tomimbang in a tie for 43rd with a total of 236 (+20)... The Knights will next compete at the Conference USA Championships in El Paso, Texas on April 14-16.

UTEP
UTEP tied for 11th place at the Arkansas-Little Rock Classic on Tuesday in Hot Springs, Ark... The Miners compiled rounds of 314, 313 and 317 for a two-day total of 944... Deborah Martinez led the Miners, tying for 17th place (78-75-77-230)... Shang-Fan Huang tied for 19th place (75-75-81-231), while Rosana Gomez tied for 60th place (86-79-79-244)... The Miners return to the course when they play in the Susie Mazwell Berning Classic Apr. 6-7 in Norman, Okla.
