IRVING, Texas - Houston's Laurie Wagner is the Conference USA Softball Hitter of the Week for games through March 30. The junior went 5-for-7 in UH's series sweep over Memphis, with all five hits going for extra bases. She smacked two doubles and three RBI to drive in seven runs and she also scored four times. Angel Shamblin of Houston is the Pitcher of the Week. Shamblin pitched the second perfect game of her career (the only two in the program's history) in Houston's game one win over Memphis. It was the first perfect game this season in C-USA. She followed that performance with a season-high tying 15 strikeouts in her game three win over the Tigers.

CO-HITTER OF THE WEEK (3/31)
LAURIE WAGNER - Houston
RF, Jr., Houston, Texas (Stratford)

Wagner hit two home runs in the Cougars 3-0 game three win over Memphis. Her first home run was a two-run blast in the first inning and her second came in the sixth inning. They were the only hits for the Cougars in the game. Wagner helped the Cougars secure their third-straight series sweep in conference play. The Houston native hit .714 (5-for-7) over the weekend and has a team best .433 batting average. The junior also hit a home run in Houston's second game of the series en route to a 7-1 win. The three home runs give her nine for the season, which is tied for the most on the team this season. Wagner needs just one more home run to break into the school's top five for most home runs in a season. The weekly honor is the second of Wagner's career and her first in 2008.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK (3/31)
ANGEL SHAMBLIN - Houston
P, Sr., Davie, Fla. (Hollywood Christian)

Shamblin pitched the second perfect game of her career and the second in program history in the game one of the three-game series against Memphis. The performance was the first perfect game this season in C-USA. She tallied nine strikeouts in the win. Shamblin was in the circle again on Sunday and dominated the Tigers, racking up 15 strikeouts en route to her 18th win this season. It was the second time she has struck out 15 hitters in a game this season and the total is the second most in program history. In total on the weekend, she allowed just four hits and no runs, including 24 strikeouts. The senior sports a 0.59 ERA this season to pace the Cougars. This is Shamblin's 13th career weekly honor, her fourth in 2008 (Feb. 18, Mar. 10, Mar. 17).
