IRVING, Texas - Five Conference USA Women's Tennis teams are ranked in the latest ITA Tennis rankings, led by Marshall at No. 55. UAB is No. 57, followed by Tulsa at No. 58, No. 63 East Carolina and No. 75 Rice.
Alexandra Kichoutkin of Tulsa is the women's tennis Player of the Week after she moved to 12-2 with wins at the No. 1 singles spot against Middle Tennessee State and No. 47 Wichita State.
WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK (3/4)
ALEXANDRA KICHOUTKIN - Tulsa

Kichoutkin moved to 12-2 for the No. 38-ranked Golden Hurricane after winning both of her singles matches this weekend in Wichita, Kan. Against Middle Tennessee State, she defeated Ann Siljestrom, 6-3, 6-2 at position No. 1 in Tulsa's 7-0 victory. KIchoutkin along with partner Jie Zeng also won in doubles, downing Shannon Hartmann and Stphanie Parkison, 8-7 (7-4). In TU's 4-3 loss to No. 47-ranked Wichita State, Kichoutkin beat Anna Egorova at the No. 1 position, 6-4, 6-7 (7-10), 6-1. In doubles, Kichoutkin norrowly lost to Florentina Hanisch, 8-7 (9-7). Kichoutkin along with partner Zeng is 10-2 on the season in doubles. This is Kichuotkin's third weekly honor of 2008 (Feb. 5, Feb. 19).

Conference USA will name a male and female tennis Athlete of the Week throughout the regular season. The weekly accolades are selected by the media relations department and announced every Tuesday throughout the season.

Kellie Schmitt - Marshall

No. 39 Schmitt took her first loss of the season at No. 1 doubles when she was defeated by No. 33 Tatsiana Uvarova of VCU, 6-2, 6-3. In doubles, she and partner Karolina Soor downed Uvarova/Konstantinova 8-6. Schmitt is now 11-1 at the No. 1 singled line and 10-0 at the No. 1 doubles spot in 2008.
KRISTEN REID - SMU

Reid had a dominant couple of matches at No. 5 singles last week for the Mustangs. Reid defeated Kerryn Potgieter of Texas Tech Friday in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. At No. 33 UNLV, Reid beat Adrienn Hidvegi 7-6, 6-1. Reid's wins this weekend take her to 8-4 on the season.
