REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. - California's fourth-ranked varsity eight lost to sixth-ranked Wisconsin on Saturday at the Stanford Invitational at the Redwood Shores Lagoon. The Golden Bears' second varsity eight also lost to its Badgers' counterpart.

Cal will not compete in the Sunday portion of the two-day regatta.

The Cal varsity eight lost, 6:06.21-6:10.06, to the Badgers and the Bears' second varsity eight fell, 6:16.13-6:19.73, to Wisconsin. All four teams raced into a 7-10 mph head wind.

In the afternoon, Cal's third varsity eight battled the Santa Clara varsity eight in a race that featured 12-15 mph cross winds and 20 mph gusts. The Bears came away victorious, 6:58.37-7:06.95.

The Bears host Washington and its top-ranked varsity eight at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, in Redwood Shores.
