Agnini Tabbed to Coach U.S. Lightweight Men's Four at U23 World Championships

July 8, 2008

BERKELEY - California volunteer assistant coach Luke Agnini will coach the U.S. lightweight men's four without coxswain at the 2008 FISA World Rowing Under 23 Championships slated for July 17-20 in Brandenburg, Germany, USRowing announced on Monday.

Agnini, who joined Cal's coaching staff in 2008, has previously coached for the United States, leading a U.S. coxed pair that reached the 2007 World Championships and won the B final to claim seventh-place overall.

In other news, the Golden Bears recently hired former Cal coxswain Michael Vallarelli as an assistant coach. The Boston product, who competed at Cal from 1999 to 2002, will serve as a recruiting coordinator and freshman assistant coach under Cal freshman coach Geoff Bond.
