Youtube Video Highlights

MURRIETA, Calif. - California upended 19-time national champion North Carolina, 3-2, Saturday night in spring action at Vista Murrieta High School in front of approximately 3,000 fans.

"We played very well," said Cal head coach Neil McGuire. "It was an excellent team performance."

Freshman forward Alex Morgan, who is currently attending a U.S. Under-20 national team camp in Carson, Calif., posted a hat trick to lead the Golden Bears.

Morgan gave Cal a 1-0 lead at the half and capped the Bears' scoring with two goals after halftime. In 2007, Morgan paced Cal in points (18) and goals (8).

Cal led 3-0 over the Atlantic Coast Conference power with five minutes to play. The Tar Heels then scored two goals in the span of two minutes but couldn't overtake the Bears.

Sophomore goalkeeper Gina Pellegrini started for Cal, and redshirt sophomore Rosie Aguilera played the final 10 minutes in goal for the Bears.

Cal continues its spring schedule against San Francisco April 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Danville, Calif.
