Final Stats

HARROGATE, TN - Under the lights in Friday evenings South Atlantic Conference opener with Carson-Newman College, the Lincoln Memorial University baseball team improved to 1-0 in league play with an 11-8 win over the Eagles.

The game proved to be a see-saw battle over nine innings of play. Both teams carried the lead numerous times, but it was Lincoln Memorial that silenced the Eagle bats in the final three innings of play while scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh and one in the bottom of the eighth inning to come away victorious.

While Railsplitter newcomer Jason Divila (Plantation, FL) picked up the win to improve to 1-0 on the year, the game is to be the first of three that Lincoln Memorial and Carson-Newman will play on opening weekend of South Atlantic Conference action. Saturday at 1:00 p.m., the two east Tennessee rivals will take the field again to play the final two games of the series.

The Railsplitters improve to 8-4 overall and 1-0 in the South Atlantic Conference, while the Eagle fall to 7-4 on the year and 0-1 in league play. Carson-Newman pitcher Jake MacDonald got credit for Friday's loss, dropping his record to 0-1 this season.
