Carson-Newman Hitting Too Much For Brevard



Potts led the Eagles hitting going 3-for-4 from the plate

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman Eagles hit their way to a 7-3 win over Brevard this afternoon at the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex. The win gave the Eagles the weekend series sweep over Brevard, bringing their record to 29-12, 9-6 in the SAC.

The Eagles pounded out 12 hits in the win, while the Eagles' combined pitching only allowed five hits in the contest.

Carson-Newman was led by senior Langdon Potts, who went 3-for-4 from the plate with two doubles and a single. Additionally, senior Nick Achberger, Mills Rogers, and Tyler Wynn had two hits apiece for the Eagles.

The highlight of the game come in the fourth inning when Achberger hit a two-run homer, putting the first Eagle runs on the board. He would go on to finish the game with two RBIs, while E.T. McCreary and Tyler Wynn would get an RBI apiece.

Carson-Newman junior pitcher Jacob Lambert got the win for the Eagles. Lambert pitched six innings, giving up only three hits and one run. Eagle pitchers Dustin Davis and Dustin Dalton finished out the game, giving up two hits and two runs.

Brevard was led at the plate by Matt Rose, Brice Warner, Seth Corliss and Stephen Mullins with a hit apiece. Rose had a single run homer in the sixth to put the first Tornado run on the board.

 

 

Junior pitcher Seth Laughter pitched the complete game and had six strikeouts in the losing effort.

The Eagles will be back in action in Wednesday, April 2nd, in Gaffney, S.C. when they will take on the Limestone College Saints. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
