ROCK HILL, SC - Caron-Newman's Brett Hontz has been named South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Week

The senior right-hander fired a 13-strikeout, complete game in Carson-Newman's 7-2 Friday night win over Tusculum.

Hontz (Newton Square, Pa.) allowed only six hits and two unearned runs as the Eagles grabbed the win in the series-opener against their rivals. Both Pioneer runs came in the first, but Hontz rebounded to strike out the side in the second and settle into an impressive rhythm for his sixth win.

Carson-Newman returns to action this afternoon, as the Eagles host Belmont-Abbey in a 1 p.m. doubleheader. C-N will host Anderson tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.
