Lenoir-Rhyne's Bratton Too Much For Eagles

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Lenoir-Rhyne's Reggie Bratton scored a career-high 35 points to lead L-R past Carson-Newman on Saturday night, 106-97.

Bratton (Charlotte, N.C.) finished 11-of-19 from the floor and 12-of-17 at the line to lead the Bears in the win. L-R finished 41-of-52 at the free throw line, setting a school-record for free throws made in a single game.

Lenoir-Rhyne (13-3, 6-0 SAC) used an 18-4 run to start the second half to push the lead out to 68-52 at the 15:26 mark of the second half.

Carson-Newman answered right back with a 14-0 run to cut the lead to two at 68-66. The Eagles cut it back to three at 82-79 on a jumper by Clay Scott (Jefferson, Ga.), but Josh Rudder's NBA-range 3-pointer pushed the lead back out to six. C-N would not cut it below six again.

Sophomore Jordan Dixon (Clinton, Tenn.) had 23 points, 21 in the second half, to lead the Eagles. Scott Williams (Macon, Ga.) and Andy Tipton (Maryville, Tenn.) each had 12 for C-N. Darren Williams (Lawrenceville, Ga.) added 11.

Ryan Crawford (Stuarts Draft, Va.) added 14 points for the Bears. Josh Kindred (Holly Springs, N.C.) chipped in 13.

Both teams are in action again on Wednesday. C-N will host to Catawba at Holt Fieldhouse. Lenoir-Rhyne will travel to Wingate to face the Bulldogs. Both games begin at 8 p.m.
