TIGERVILLE, SC--Carson-Newman College drained a school-record 20 3-pointers en route to a 93-68 victory over North Greenville University Wednesday night in Hayes Gymnasium. The Eagles improve to 15-4 on the season, while the Crusaders fall to 5-16. Carson-Newman shot an astonishing 58.8% from behind the arc and 60% from the field. The Crusaders, on the other hand, only managed to hit one of their 13 3-point attempts for a disappointing 7.7%. NGU shot 49.1% from the field. C-N breaks the school record it set January of '03 against Trevecca, knocking down 17 three-pointers. Darren Williams and Jesse McMurray led the Eagles with 15 points each. Scott Williams added 14 points, while Andy Tipton chipped in ten points. Austin Randel once again led the Crusaders with 23 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Andrew Nipper contributed 15 points and seven assists, while Adam Griggs chipped in 13 points and six assists. Carson-Newman led 48-32 at halftime. The Eagles host Mars Hill Saturday night in Jefferson City.
