Rock Hill, S.C. - Carson-Newman College's Jesse McMurray has been named South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player Of The Week, league officials announced today.

McMurray, a junior guard from Gate City, Va., averaged 19.0 points and hit 12-of-20 three-point attempts (60 percent) in leading Carson-Newman to a 2-0 week with victories over North Greenville (93-68) and league-foe Mars Hill (103-93) last Wednesday and Saturday, respectively.

McMurray hit five treys and finished with 15 points in the road win over the Crusaders on Wednesday. As a team, C-N hit 20 threes against North Greenville, setting a school record for three-pointers made in a single game. The Eagles game up one three shy of matching the SAC record for threes in a game.

He tallied a game-high 23 points and seven three-pointers, six in the second half, in the come-from-behind victory against the Lions Saturday at home. McMurray also added four steals and three assists in the 103-93 win.

McMurray has helped lead Carson-Newman to a 16-4 overall record and a 7-2 ledger in SAC play so far this season.

The South Atlantic Conference Basketball Players Of The Week are voted on by the league's eight sports information directors.
