Lady Eagles' Tipton Leads Nation from Three-Point Range



Tipton is one of the nation's best from behind the arc.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - For the second time this season, Carson-Newman junior guard Ashley Tipton leads the nation in three-point field goal percentage according to NCAA statistics released earlier this week.

Tipton is currently shooting 50% from long range. She is also ranked 29th in three point field goals per game (2.7).

As a team, the Lady Eagles (11-10, 5-4 in South Atlantic Conference) are outrebounding opponents 11.5 boards per game, good for 3rd nationally.

Carson-Newman is also listed in two other team categories and three individual. Carson-Newman is 25th in three-point field-goal percentage (37.1%) and 46th in field-goal percentage per game (44.0).

Sophomore guard Ashley Kyle (Jefferson City, Tenn.) is ranked 18th in the country in assist-turnover ratio (2.00), 24th in free-throw percentage (85.3%), and 40th in assists per game (4.9 apg.).

The Lady Eagles are on the road tonight for a conference match-up against Lenoir-Rhyne. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
