Feb. 16, 2008 JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Freshman Jasmine Gunn had 18 points as the Tusculum Pioneers knocked off Carson-Newman 69-51 Saturday night in Holt Fieldhouse. Tusculum (21-3, 11-1 SAC) used a 7-0 run to start the second half to build a 12-point lead at 35-23, and never looked backed. Carson-Newman (12-11, 6-5 SAC) shot 40 percent for the game, but committed 24 turnovers against a stingy man-to-man Pioneer defense. Gunn poured in eight-straight points, including back-to-back threes, at one point in the second half, to help Tusculum keep its lead in double figures. She finished 7-of-10 from the floor, including a perfect 3-of-3 from three-point range. Her three-point shooting in the second half helped the Pioneers keep a comfortable, as Tusculum knocked down 5-of-10 Sophomore Stephanie Neptune posted a double-double for the Pioneers, finishing with 12 points and 12 boards, while junior Shantae Shank finished with 12 points and 3 steals. Senior Emily Mason led the Lady Eagles with 12 points and nine rebounds, while sophomore Shari Buford had a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards. She also had four blocks.
