JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles withstood a late Lincoln Memorial surge to hold off the Lady Railsplitters 74-67 Saturday night in Holt Fieldhouse.

Carson-Newman (14-11, 7-5 SAC) used a 9-0 spurt to make a one-point lead a 55-45 game, and build a lead they would not relinquish. Junior Tykira McDaniel keyed the Lady Eagles run with two steals and two buckets.

Senior Emily Mason turned in one of the best performance's of the season on senior night, leading C-N with 22 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore

Shari Buford and junior Angela Volentine made it four Lady Eagles in double figures. Buford finished with 20 and Volentine 13.

Lincoln Memorial (12-13, 3-10 SAC) outrebounded the Lady Eagles 26-24, but C-N missed only 20 shots (27-of-47) from the floor, shooting 57 percent for the game.

Stephanie Wagner scored 16 for the Lady Railsplitters. Kara Harris added 11 and Kate Fane 10.

The Lady Eagles are at Catawba on Wednesday night for a 6 p.m. tip.
