JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Both Carson-Newman tennis teams picked up wins to open the 2008 portion of their season, beating North Greenville in Jefferson City on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Eagles rolled to a 9-0, while the Eagles fought for a tough 5-4 victory. The Lady Eagles started strong by winning all three doubles matches and finished strong by sweeping all six singles matches. The Eagles won two out of three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles play. The outcome of the team match was decided by the last match on court as Trent Slagle (freshman from Knoxville, Tennessee) defeated Jacob Rogers 7-6(1), 6-3 to secure the victory for the Eagles. The Eagles (2-0) and Lady Eagles (2-0) return to action on Saturday, February 23, 2008 against the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky. C-N Lady Eagles 9 - North Greenville 0
