Silver Medal for Three Former CCHA players at the IIHF World Championships
 

 
 
 

 
Former Bulldog Chris Kunitz had goala and five assists at the World Championships with Team Canada.
 
 
Three former CCHA players were forced to settle for the silver medal at the 2008 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship on Sunday, May 18th when Russia beat Canada, 5-4 in overtime.

Team Canada's three former CCHA'ers are Chris Kunitz (Ferris State), Jamal Mayers (Western Michigan) and Duncan Keith (Michigan State). Kunitz finished with two goals, including his team's second goal in the final, and five assists while appearing in all nine games for Canada. Mayers also appeared in all nine games while producing two goals, five points and a +6 rating. Keith collected two assists and was +9 for the tournament.

Overall, five former CCHA players participated in the international event that was held in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Quebec City, Quebec, from May 2-18.

Former Spartan David Booth was the lone ex-CCHA player on Team USA. Booth scored the fourth goal of a 5-1 win over Slovenia on May 4. His American squad lost to Finland, by a score of 3-2 in the quarterfinals, to finish fifth in the tournament and wind up with a 5-3-0 record.

Team Italy also had a former conference player in Andre Signoretti, who played at Ohio State from 1997-01. Signoretti had a goal and two assists in four appearances for an Italian team that went 0-5-0 and was relegated, along with Slovenia, to a lower classification for next season.
