Chaminade falls to #5 UCLA Bruins 88-63

Lahaina, HI- In the primetime game of the first round of the EA Sports Maui Invitational, Chaminade fell to the UCLA Bruins 88-63 in front of a raucous sold out crowd at the Lahaina Civic Center. UCLA jumped out on the Silverswords, going up 17-2 before Chaminade responded, going down 43-20 at the break. CUH answered in the second half behind some hot shooting, scoring 43 points on the Bruins, knocking down 7 threes in the second half and 10 for the game. Chaminade shot 48% from three for the evening. Chaminade was led by Zack Whiting with 14 points and 10 assists. Darrell Birton added 12 points on 4-5 shooting from three and Mike Green added 11 points in the loss. Marko Kolaric added 8 points and 8 rebounds. UCLA was led by Arron Afflalo with 25 points on the night. UCLA improves to 2-0 on the year, while Chaminade falls to 0-1. CUH is set to take on DePaul at 11:00 AM HT at the Lahaina Civic Center. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
