Whiting Named First Team All-Region
March 9, 2007 Gold Canyon, AZ- After a fantastic senior year, All-American candidate Zack Whiting has received another enormous accolade. The finalist for the Bob Cousy Award, going to the nation's best point guard regardless of level can now add Daktronics First Team All-West Region to his list of awards. The senior point guard, who led the nation in assists and the PacWest in scoring finished second in the voting and will be included in the All-American balloting that is taking place this month. Kevin Johnson, a senior forward from Humboldt State finished first in the voting and was named the West Region Player of the Year. Joining Whiting and Johnson on the First Team are Jushay Rockett of Alaska Fairbanks, Dustin Bremerman of Seattle Pacific and Jontae Vinson of Cal State-LA.
