Oct. 12, 2006 Springfield, MA- Chaminade senior point guard Zack Whiting was announced for the 2007 Bob Cousy Award presented by The Hartford, which recognizes the best college point guard regardless of level. The award is given out by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on an annual basis. The candidates are evaluated on their ability to maximize their team's collective potential, their leadership, their core basketball skills (passing, dribbling and creating team offense) and overall team achievement. The selection committee is comprised of college basketball experts including media members, former coaches and players. Other nominees include, but is not limited to, A.J. Price of UCONN, Mustafa Shakur, University of Arizona, Greg Paulus, Duke University, Darren Collison of UCLA, Taurean Green, University of Florida and Dominic James of Marquette amongst others. Whiting averaged 14.1ppg, 8.1apg and 5.0 rebounds per game for the 2005-06 Pac West Champions.
