Chaminade Men's Basketball Faces UCLA November 20th

Nov. 14, 2006

Honolulu, HI- In the regular season opener for the defending Pac West Champions, Chaminade is set to face UCLA on November 20th at 6:30 HT live on ESPN2.

The Swords face the Bruins in the primetime game of the 2006 EA Sports Maui Invitational first round, which will include a special halftime ceremony. The Silverswords will be retiring the #50 jersey of Will Pounds who passed away last spring. Pounds, who was affectionately known to many as "Hawaii 5-0" and "Mr. Chaminade" was an intergral part of the first ever Chaminade basketball team. The Silverswords will also be honoring the 2005-06 team with the raising of their championship banners.

As was the case last year, the entire 2006 EA Sports Maui Invitational will be televised by the ESPN networks. The field includes perennial powerhouses UCLA, Memphis, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, DePaul, Oklahoma and Purdue.

Chaminade will face either Kentucky or DePaul on day two of the tournament.
