CUH WSB: CUH on a Role Winning Eight Games in a Row

Waipahu, HI- The Chaminade Women Softball team is on a role, they have won the last eight games this season, all of them against University of Wisconsin-Stout. The team played them on March 19th in a double header match up and won in convincing fashion and last night they won the double header match up against the Blue Devils. The Silverswords won their first game by a score of 3 to 1, thanks in part to great pitching by CUH's outstanding freshman pitchers, Ashley Hopfe and Kasy'e Lalau. Together they allowed four hits, Hopfe gave up one earned run. Chaminade wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as they scored their three runs in the second and third inning of play. Sophomore Kristine Mihara things started with a single to up the middle, senior Anina Quaranto kept the rally going with a single to left field. With the help of a few walks Chaminade was able to take a 1 to 0 lead. The third inning of play CUH's Brandi Sasaki belted the ball to right field and as a result got a triple, she would later score on a passed ball. Freshman Melissa Harris scored Kristine Mihara from third on a single to left field. At the end of three innings the Silverswords led by a score of 3 to 0. The Blue Devils game out in the 4th inning and tried to cut into the 3 to defecit, but could only come up with one run and as a result they ended up losing the game by a close margin, 3 to 1. The Second game was not as close as the first one, as the Silverswords won 8 to 3, thanks in large part to great defensive execution and solid hitting by Chaminade. CUH scored in every inning but one and ended up winning their eighth game in a row. Chelsi Walls got credit for the W and Kasy'e Lalau earned the save. Chaminade posted 11 hits to UW-Stout's 9 hits, Anina Quaranto went 2 for 4 on the day and Carolyn Fisher went a perfect 2 for 2 for the Silverswords. With the sweep of Blue Devils CUH improves to 8 and 15 overall and UW-Stout falls to 7 and 9. The team travels for the next week and will take on Grand Canyon University and also they will play in a softball tournament in Stanislaus, CA. The Silverswords next home game is on April 12th when they take on undefeated Hawaii Pacific University, first pitch is set for 12:00PM.
