Carolyn Fisher Hits First HR of Season
 
 
WSB: CUH Split Double Header Match Up With Grand Canyon University

Phoenix, AZ- Chaminade had won eight games in a row prior to taking on Grand Canyon University today. The SIlverswords spilt a their double header with the Antelopes, winning the first game 6 to 3 and losing the second game 5 to 1.

GAME 1: CUH trailed by a score of 2 to 0 and the end of the first inning. It wasn't until the next winning that they put some runs on the board. Senior Carolyn Fisher, belted the ball to left field for her first home run of the season. The game was relatively quite until the top of the fifth inning, Carolyn Fisher was the lead off batter in the fifth for the Silverswords. She started off the inning with a single through the left side of the infield. Alyssa Dumlao came into pinch run for Fisher, she ended up advancing to second base the very next at bat. Chasity Senas the next batter for CUH, put the ball in play to the right side of the diamond and with it advanced Alyssa Dumlao to second however, she was thrown out. Freshman Ashley Hopfe singled to center filed scoring Alyssa Dumlao and as a result tying the game at 2. At the end of 5 innings of play the game was knotted at 2. The SIlverswords came up big in Top of the 6th inning scoring 3 runs on 3 hits, Anina Quaranto started off the big inning for Chaminade with a single to left center. Brandi Sasaki the next batter, got on base by way of a fielders choice. Skye Virtudes came up to the plate with runners on first and second and she did not disappoint, she hit a double to right center scoring Brandi Sasaki from second and advancing Anina Qauranto to third. Chasity Senas singled to left center and batted in 2 more runs for Chaminade. At the end of 6th Chaminade led 5 to 3 and went on to win the first game 6 to 3. Freshman pitcher Chelsi Walls earned the W for Chaminade, she improved to 6-5 overall and Kasy'e Lalau earned her 3rd save of the year.

GAME 2: The second game started out really rough for the Silverswords, they gave up 5 runs on 4 hits in the bottom of the first inning. The Silverswords would never recover and ended up losing by a score of 5 to 1. The Antelopes Michelle Farrell pitched all seven innings and gave up 5 hits on the 27 batters she faced, she struck out 7 and walked only 1. The losing pitcher for Chaminade was Kasy'e Lalau she falls to 1- 6 overall, she faced 26 batters total. She gave up 7 hits, one strike out and one base balls and she gave up 4 earned runs. Despite being down heading into the Top half of the sixth inning, Chaminade continued to fight for that tenth straight win. Brandi Sasaki started things off with a jack to left center field for her second home run of the year, making the score 5 to 1. Chaminade would not post anymore runs and ended up losing its first game in the last ten games.

With today's results the Silverswords record stands at 9-16 overall and 4-10 in Conference. Grand Canyon's record stands at 10-13 overall and 5-5 in Conference. The two teams square off again tomorrow in a double header match up in Phoenix, AZ, first pitch set for 12:00PM MT.
