WSB: Silverswords Swept by HPU

April 14, 2008

Waipahu, HI- CUH took on Hawaii Pacific University today in a double header match up at CORPS field, the Siverswords played well despite losing both games this afternoon. They lost the first game 7 to 0 and 3 to 0.

The first game remained close up until the bottom of the 4th inning when they gave up 5 runs on 7 hits. Brandi Sasaki had two of the four hits for the Silverswords, Melissa Harris and Kristine Mihara. The losing pitcher for the Silverswords was Kasy'e Lalau.

The second game for Chaminade was much closer than the first, the Silverswords only lost 3 to 0. Despite only getting two hits off of twenty two at bats, the Silverswords played great defense and allowed seven hits on twenty five at bats.

CUH nearly won the put out battle having eighteen to HPU's twenty one. Freshman Chelsi Walls is charged with the loss.

With the loss, the Silverswords fall to 9-30 overall and 4-16 in the Pacific West Conference. HPU improves their record to 34-5 overall and 19-1 in conference. The next game for Chaminade is on April 15th against BYU Hawaii @ COPRS field, first pitch it set for 4:30PM. This game is also "senior night" for the four departing seniors, Iwalani Yamaguchi, Carolyn Fisher, Anina Quaranto and Valerie De Los Santos.
