Foster Named Preseason All-GSC West

Jan. 29, 2008

MEMPHIS--Christian Brothers University senior shortstop Mark Foster (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS) has been named to the Preseason All-Gulf South Conference West Division team.

Foster, a two-time First-Team All-GSC West selection, has a .371 batting average for his career after hitting .382 with 51 runs as a junior. Foster led the GSC in hits per game and finished ninth in batting average and total hits.

All returning First-Team and Second-Team All-GSC players are named to the Preseason All-GSC Team.

As a team, the Bucs were picked seventh in the West. Ouachita Baptist was picked to repeat its GSC West title, earning 47 of a possible 49 points, followed by Delta State (43), Southern Arkansas (30), and Arkansas Tech (30) in the top four. Harding (23), Henderson State (20), CBU (15), and Arkansas-Monticello (7) round out the GSC West predictions.

Delta State was the coaches' pick to win the overall GSC Tournament, which is hosted by CBU at USA Stadium in Millington May 3-7.

The Bucs open the season Friday, Feb. 8, at home as they take on Williams Baptist at 1 p.m.
