Final Stats

MEMPHIS--The Christian Brothers University Bucs turned 22 Nova Southeastern turnovers into 33 points as they rolled to an 81-48 win in their final non-conference game of the season.

The Bucs (13-9) used a 12-0 run early in the first half to blow open what had been a tie game at 4-4, and the Sharks (9-13) never came closer than eight points again.

Just after the first-half media timeout, the Bucs exploded for a 16-2 run that stretched the lead from 22-14 to 38-16 on a Nick Kohs (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) layup with 1:42 remaining in the half. CBU eventually built its lead to as much as 34 points in the final minutes.

Senior forward Kevin Weybright (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wyoming HS) led the Bucs with 23 points in 29 minutes. Kohs had 19 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, and he matched his season-high with five blocks in 31 minutes. Junior guard Reggie Peyton (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) had 14 points, eight rebounds, and a career-high six steals, while sophomore guard Kyle Couvion (Dayton, Ohio/Centerville HS) also grabbed six steals to go with nine points and six assists.

Kevin Chester led the Sharks with 21 points and seven rebounds, while Josh Wood scored 15.

As a team, the Bucs had 17 steals, six better than their previous season high. CBU kept pounding the ball inside, with 54 points in the paint shattering their previous season high of 42. The Bucs shot 56.7 percent (34-of-60) overall, including 37.5 percent (6-of-16) from three-point range.

NSU was 33.3 percent (18-of-54) from the floor, including 21.4 percent (3-of-14) from three-point range.

The Bucs will look to make it three wins in a row Thursday night as they return to Gulf South Conference West Division play to host Arkansas Tech at 7 p.m.
