MEMPHIS--The Gulf South Conference has named Christian Brothers University senior forward Kevin Weybright (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wyoming HS) as its West Division Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 12.

Weybright averaged 25.5 points as he led the Bucs to a 2-0 week, shooting 68 percent from the floor, 58.3 percent from three-point range, and 83.3 percent at the free throw line.

He started the week with a 28-point, eight-rebound effort at Southern Arkansas Thursday night as he helped the Bucs to a 69-62 win. Monday night against Nova Southeastern, Weybright poured in 23 more points in just 29 minutes as the Bucs cruised to an 81-48 win.

Weybright has 1,798 career points, good for 12th on the GSC career scoring list and just 47 points outside the top 10. He is fifth on the CBU career leaderboard, one point behind fourth-place Mike Broderick (1981-85) and 20 behind third-place Tim Stock (1985-88).

The award is the seventh of Weybright's career, but his first of the season. It is the Bucs' second award of the year, as junior center Nick Kohs (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) won the first Player of the Week award of the year Nov. 20.

The Bucs will return to Canale Arena tomorrow night for a crucial GSC West battle with Arkansas Tech at 7 p.m.
