KUTZTOWN - Clarion University senior Erin Richard (Erie/McDowell) added to her impressive resume by winning the PSAC women's cross country championship Saturday morning at Kutztown.
Richard, a three-time All-American in track and field, is the first Clarion women's runner to win a PSAC Title. Her time of 23:02.1 was 16 seconds better than second-place runner and defending PSAC Champion Rachael Lanzel of Edinboro and 47 seconds faster than third-place finisher Jaime Wright of Slippery Rock.
Behind Richard's performance, Clarion was eighth at the meet with 168 points. Bloomsburg won the meet with 65 tallies.
Kate Ehrensberger (St. Marys/Elk County Catholic) finished 34th for the Golden Eagles (25:41.20), Caitlin Palko (Pittsburgh/North Hills) was 42nd (25:56.3), Molly Smathers (Clarion/Clarion) was 44th (25:58.7), Lisa Nickel (Pittsburgh/Shaler) was 47th (26:06.5), Suzanne Schwerer (Wexford/Pine-Richland) was 69th (26:41.10), Kate Reinhart (Gibsonia/Pine-Richland) was 95th (28:15.7), Rachel Slade (Indiana/Penns Manor) was 99th (28:36.6) and Annmarie Clifford was 103rd (29:04.6)
