(CLARION, PA.): Host Clarion University shot a two-day, 36-hole total of 603 and won the Hal Hansen Invitational Golf Tournament which finished on Monday afternoon. The Clarion "B" squad finished second with a total of 608, while IUP was hird with a 616, West Liberty fourth at 621 and Millersville fifth with a 625 in the 21-team field. Held at Clarion Oaks Golf Club, the course played to a par 72 and a course length of 7,085 yards for both days (Sunday/Monday). Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was Justin Moose (Sr. N. Huntingdon - Norwin) who fired a 74, 75 - 149 and finished third. Justin Cameron (Jr. Punxy) shot 80, 72 - 152 and was sixth, while Jared Schmader (Fr. Cooperstown - Maplewood) carded am 80, 74 - 154 and was 13th , Preston Mullens (Sr. Emporium - Cameron County) shot a 79, 76 - 155 and was 17th and Nick Sanner (So. Markleton) had a 73, 85 - 158 and ended 30th. The Clarion "B" team was led by Kevin Smith (Fr.St. Marys - ECC) who tied Moose for third individually with a 73, 76 - 149. Mike DeAngelo (So. New Castle - Shenango) tied for 6th with a 75, 77 - 152, Sean Foust (So. Emlenton - AC Valley) was 13th with a 75, 79 - 154, Ben Kamnikar (Fr. Johnstown) tied for 25th (157) with an 82, 75 and Nick Brucker (Jr. Apollo - Kiski Area) was 32nd with a (159) 78, 81. Winning the individual medalist honors was Millersville's Corey Gast with a 73, 74 - 147 and West Liberty's Matt Hicks was second with a 76, 72 - 148. Clarion competes in the Wheeling Jesuit Invitational September 24-25. |
