CLARION WOMEN'S BASKETBALL RANKED 10TH IN EAST REGION

INDIANAPOLIS - The Clarion University women's basketball team cracked the Top 10 in the NCAA Division II East Region Poll Wednesday coming in at No. 10.

The Golden Eagles (13-6 overall, 3-2 PSAC-West) have won three in a row and four of six heading into Wednesday's night PSAC-West home contest with Slippery Rock (6 p.m.).

Clarion, under 19th year head coach "Gie" Parsons, is led by a balanced attack that features a balanced attack that has four players scoring in double figures.

Junior guard Katrina Greer leads Clarion with 14.9 ppg, senior forward Jessica Albanese, a 1,000-point scorer, is adding 12.6 ppg and 6.7 rpg, senior guard My'Kea Cohill chips in with 11.1 ppg and sophomore forward Sara Pratt averages 10.9 ppg and 7.8 rpg while leading the team with 49 blocked shots. Senior point guard Ashley Grimm, the all-time leading assist giver in school history, rounds out the starting five averaging 9.7 ppg, a PSAC-leading 6.5 apg and 4.4 rpg. Janelle Zabresky is the top player off the bench scoring 8.0 ppg and grabbing 7.2 rpg.

Wednesday's game with Slippery Rock starts a three-game homestand for Clarion. The Golden Eagles also host California at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and IUP at 6 p.m. Feb. 13. The California game will feature A "Take a Kid to the Game" promotion where all kids 12 and under get in free.

NOTES - This is the first time Clarion has been Regionally ranked since qualifying for the NCAA Division II playoffs in 2005 as the sixth seed in the NCAA East Region ... The Regional Rankings are used to help determine the NCAA Division II playoff field and are released each Wednesday.
