CLARION NETTERS EDGED BY CHARLESTON 5-4

(Hilton Head, S.C.): Clarion's Women's Tennis team lost a tough 5-4 decision to Charleston (W.V.) in Hilton Head, South Carolina on Thursday, March 13th, in the final dual meet of the Spring Trip.

The Golden Eagles finish the Spring Trip with an 0-4 record, and combined with their 4-2 Fall mark, are currently 4-6 overall.

In singles play Kassie Leuschel at #5 and Greta Shepardson at #6 singles both won their individual matches. Leuschel defeated Melissa Carpenter 6-4, 6-2, while Shepardson downed Erica Lewis 6-3, 0-6, 10-6).

Leuschel and Lisa Baumgartner won their doubles match by an 8-1 margin, and Shepardson and Brittany Bovalino won a two and a half hour marathon at #3 doubles, winning 9-8, including the tie breaker which went 9-7.

The Golden Eagles will play at Mercyhurst March 20th.
