ATLANTA - The Tigers competed in preliminaries at the Men's ACC Swimming Championships Thursday morning in order to set up the night's finals. The Tigers, currently sixth, moved into position to improve their standing, as they competed for spots in the 200 IM, 50 free, and 500 free finals.

In the 50 free, Mark Vahle, the school record holder, will represent the Tigers in the finals after swimming a 19.97, a season-best time. Seniors Stephen Russell (20.29), Adam Farnham (20.30), and Matt Balderston (20.43) all put in career-bests and moved into Clemson's all-time top-ten at fifth, sixth, and seventh, respectively. This group of four will also likely compete for an ACC title in the 200 free relay, held Thursday night.

Senior Sean Geary swam a season-best 4:35.41 in the 500 free, and freshman David Gordon will join him in the bonus finals tonight.

Senior Attila Ruszka and sophomore Matt Angelini will compete for points in the 200 IM after strong showings. Angelini's 1:50.85 was the 10th best time in Clemson history.

The finals for these events will be held tonight starting at 7p.m. Results can be followed live at www.theacc.com or can be seen on www.accselect.com.
