"We really didn't have a tremendous amount of talent but we had heart and we wanted to play. We didn't quit, we didn't take off plays; we came after you for nine innings. Everybody did their jobs, everybody pulled for their teammates."

That's former Clemson shortstop Bud Spiers summing up a special season 50 years ago, when he led one of the most dramatic single-season turnarounds in ACC baseball history, a season that ended with Clemson's first appearance in the College World Series...
