Des Moines, IA - Clemson sophomore Patricia Mamona finished in 10th place in the triple jump on Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The meet was held at Drake Stadium on the Drake University campus.

Mamona's 10th-place showing was her best-ever performance in a national championship meet. She was 11th at last year's NCAA Outdoor Championships, then 12th earlier this season at the indoor nationals in Fayetteville, AR.

She did not improve on her performance from Friday's qualifying round, but recorded a solid jump of 43'4.25" on her second attempt. She was just nine centimeters short of qualifying for three additional jumps Saturday, which would have given her a better shot at improving to possibly All-America status.
