INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State junior point guard Cedric Jackson, who averaged 14 points in leading the Vikings to wins over Milwaukee and Marist last week, has been named the Horizon League Men's Basketball Player of the Week. The league made the announcement on Monday (Feb. 25) afternoon.

This is the second time this season that Jackson received the award. He was honored on Nov. 19 after earning all-tourney team honors at the Glenn Wilkes Classic.

"I am happy for Cedric," CSU head coach Gary Waters said. "He has worked hard all season to learn the point guard position and is play of late is evidence of the success that he has had. He has the ability to help elevate the playing level of the other four guys on the court and that has helped us to become a team."

In the two games last week, Jackson averaged 14.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.5 steals, shooting .500 from the field (9-18), .667 from three-point (4-6) and 1.000 from the line (6-6).

Jackson helped the Vikings wrap up at least the No. 3 seed in next week's Horizon League Championship by guiding CSU past Milwaukee, 74-64. He flirted with becoming the first player in CSU history to record a triple-double, scoring 18 points with nine rebounds and nine assists against the Panthers.

Jackson came back on Saturday to score 10 points with six rebounds and three assists in the ESPNU BracketBusters win over Marist.

A transfer from St. John's, Jackson leads the Horizon League in both assists (4.87) and steals (2.63), ranking fourth on the CSU single season list with 79 steals and sixth with 148 assists. He is the first player in school history to make 100 field goals and 100 free throws, hand out 100 assists and grab 100 rebounds in a season.

Jackson and the Vikings will be in action on Saturday (March 1) when they close the regular season with a 7:05 p.m. contest at Youngstown State.
