CLEVELAND, Ohio - Mallory Wyderka was named Horizon League Women's Athlete of the Week following an seventh place showing at the Northern Illinois Snowbird Intercollegiate Open. The league office made the announcement on Wednesday (Mar. 19).

"This is a great honor for Mallory," head coach Steve Weir said, "Especially with this being our first event of the spring."

The junior golfer was the Cleveland State's top finisher at Northern Illinois, placing seventh overall with 36-hole score of 157 (80-77). Her efforts helped the Vikings to a fourth place team finish.

Katie Broere received an honorable mention for athlete of the week. She placed eighth at Northern Illinois, only one stroke behind Wyderka (158). Following a first round in that she shot an 86, Broere carded a school-record score of 72 in the second.

The Vikings return to action on March 24 at the Butler Spring Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind.
