Vikings Sweep St. Bonaventure, 7-0
Feb. 2, 2008 Contact: Jessica Gerich CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State swept the doubles and singles competition to blank St. Bonaventure, 7-0 on Saturday morning. The Vikings are now 2-2 on the season. CSU took care of the doubles point quickly. Seniors Lindsay Sellers and Christine Vogelgesang won 8-1 over Maria Barousse and Anna Martorell at No. 3 doubles. Cleveland State also won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles and 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. Senior Jenn Myers picked up her first victory this spring, defeating Anna Perevenzetseva 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, while freshman Sanda Bjelan won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Sophomores Charlotte Gibbons and Denisa Muntean, won in the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. Senior Lindsay Sellers played the only three-set match of the day, defeating Vanessa Rumpel 4-6, 6-4, 10-7 at No. 6 singles. "We played without our No. 2 player today, but our bench has a lot of experience to come in when we need it," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "Winning the doubles point was key for out team and it carried into our singles play today. We are a more disciplined team which helped us get a good team win."
