BATON ROUGE, La. (www.lsusports.net)- LSU football coach Les Miles will throw out the first pitch Friday night prior to the baseball team's season opener at 7 p.m. versus Indiana in Alex Box Stadium.

Miles, who directed the Tigers to the 2007 BCS National Championship, will be the first of four representatives of the LSU football team to participate in baseball pregame ceremonies during the weekend series against the Hoosiers.

Tight end Richard Dickson, who caught two touchdown passes in the BCS championship game victory over Ohio State, will throw out the first pitch prior to Game 2 at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Wide receiver/outfielder Jared Mitchell and safety/outfielder Chad Jones, members of both the LSU football and baseball teams, will combine to handle the first-pitch duties prior to Sunday's 11 a.m. series finale with the Hoosiers.

"We're so proud of what Les and his team have accomplished, and it's a great honor to have him participate in our pregame ceremonies," LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri said. "We're looking forward to welcoming Richard Dickson on Saturday, and having Jared and Chad as part of the baseball team gives us a strong connection between the two programs. This is an exciting time for both the football and baseball teams - we'd like to sustain the momentum Les and his players created in the fall with the national championship."
