100 Meter Hurdles, Steeplechase Records Fall

Walnut, Calif. - Freshman Lauren Williams from Chino Hills High School won her section of the women's 100 meter hurdles at the Mt. Sac Relays Friday night in a Cal State Fullerton record time of 13.74 seconds and Carolyn Ellis broke the school mark in the 3000 meter steeplechase.

Ellis ran 10:26.62 to break the mark established earlier this year in Palo Alto by Juliane Masciana, who was tripped 100 yards into the race and had to scratch due to injury.

In the women's 5000 meters, freshman Grace Gonzales ran a personal best 16:49.22 for an NCAA egional qualifying time.

Other strong showings by Titan student-athletes:

Dalya Taman tied for second in her section of the women's pole vault at a height of 3.85 meters (12.63 feet).

Johnathan Golden was second in his section of the men's triple jump with a best effort of 15.17 meters (49.77 feet). Garrett Myers was sixth at 14.69 meters.

Chazz Evans was third (12.17) and Ashley Taylor fifth (12.39) in their section of the women's 100 meters.

In the women's 400 meters, three Titans finished 16th, 17th and 18th overall in Channing Moreland (57.81), Chelsae Moreland (58.06) and Ciara Short (58.08).

Andrew Little and Andrew Sullivan both cleared 4.75 meters (15.58 feet) in their pole vault sections with Little placing fourth and Sullivan second.
