Former Titan Arciniaga Top American in Boston

April 24, 2008

Boston, MA - Former Cal State Fullerton runner Nick Arciniaga finished tenth overall and first among American men Monday in the 112th running of the Boston Marathon.

Arciniaga completed the 26+ mile course in a personal best time of 2:16:13 and was about 8:30 behind the winner, Robert Cheruiyot of Kenya. The second American to hit the finish line was Jason Schoener of Virginia, who finished 14th in 2:18:55.

At Fullerton, Arciniaga's best performance was a 19th-place finish in the 2003 Big West Conference Men's Cross Country championships. He lived in Fountain Valley as a collegian but he's been living in Michigan the last two years training with the Brooks-Hansen's Project.
