DAVIS, CA - UC Davis' Heather Bates scored a game-high 22 points and led two other teammates in double figures as the host Aggies exploded offensively late in the first half en route to an 82-55 victory over Cal State Fullerton in a Big West Conference women's basketball game on Saturday evening in Davis, Calif.

The loss was the third in the last four contests for the Titans, who fell to 8-16 overall and 6-6 in conference play. UC Davis improved to 15-9 overall and 9-3 in the Big West with the victory.

Every Titan who appeared in the game scored, but no single player reached double figures as freshman Ashley Richie and junior Toni Thomas finished with nine points apiece.

Cal State Fullerton, which shot 52 percent from the floor in the opening half, came out firing, rebounding from a scoreless first four minutes to take its largest lead of the game at 16-12 with just over 11 minutes to play. However, the Aggies answered with a 9-0 run to erase the Titans' advantage and take control of the contest, shooting just under 58 percent and close out the final four-plus minutes of the half with a 17-3 run and lead 45-28 at the break.

UC Davis kept rolling in the second half, shooting 61 percent from the field and leading by as many as 29 points in the final two minutes. Fullerton could not get closer than 15 points on a Richie basket with 11:13 remaining to make it 56-41.

Fullerton narrowly won the battle of the boards, 30-29, but committed 25 turnovers - the second time in as many games that the Titans have turned it over 20-plus times - leading to 17 points for the Aggies.

Bates hit on 9-of-13 from the field for UC Davis and added a team-high seven rebounds. Jessica Campbell finished with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting while Haylee Donaghe added 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting.

Cal State Fullerton closes out its three-game road trip on Thursday (Feb. 21) at 7 p.m. as the Titans travel to Long Beach State.
