Titans Drop Third Straight, 3-0 to No. 23 Cal Poly

Fullerton, Calif. - Despite holding No. 23 Cal Poly to a .156 attack percentage and reigning conference player of the week to 15 kills, Cal State Fullerton dropped its third game in a row as the Mustang s swept the Titans, 3-0, in a Big West Conference Volleyball match Saturday night at Titan Gym.

The Titans again failed to notch their sixth conference win with the 30-32, 20-30, 27-30 loss and fall to 11-13 overall and 5-7 in league action. The Mustangs stay atop the league standings and improve to 17-7, 11-1.

The Titans played right with the No. 23 team in the nation, forcing extra time in the first game and held the game as close as 27-29in the final frame. Brittany Moore led the Titans and tied the Mustangs' Kylie Atherstone with 15 kills on the night to end up as the only two players in double-digit kills.

The Mustangs out-hit the Titans .156 to .133 and never hit better than .189 in any of the three games. Fullerton posted the their bet attack percentage in game one, hitting .289 behind six of Moore's kills and four kills in five swings for Alex Wolnisty. The Titans out-blocked the Mustangs 9.5 to 7.5 behind five block assists apiece by Moore and Erin Saddler. Atherstone also posted five blocks for Cal Poly.

Coming into the Week the Titans were the tied with the Mustangs in serving, but Cal Poly finished Saturday night's game by blanking the Titans 6-0 in the ace department. Ali Walker scored three to lead all players while Chelsea Hayes added two.

Cami Croteau tallied 25 digs against the hard-hitting Cal Poly offense, while she and Moore (12 digs) took care of most of the digs on the defensive end. Four Mustangs notched double digits in digs, with libero Kristin Jackson led the visitor's side with 16.

Fullerton concluded their three-game home stand and now travel to UC Irvine on Wednesday, Nov. 7, and UC Riverside on Thursday, Nov. 8. Both games start at 7 p.m.
