Tremaine Townsend Named to Big West All-Tournament Team

Anaheim, Ca - In Cal State Northridges' semifinal game against Cal State Fullerton on Friday night (3/14/08), junior forward Tremaine Townsend scored team-highs in points (16) and rebounds (16).

Following Saturday night's championship game between Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine at the Anaheim Convention Center, Townsend was among five players named to the Big West All-Tournament team. The other all-tournament players were Scott Cutley and Frank Robinson of Cal State Fullerton, Darren Fells of UC Irvine, and Larry Cunningham of UC Riverside. CSF's Josh Akognon, who scored a game-high 23 points in the Titans 81-66 over UC Irvine in the championship game, was named tournament Most Valuable Player.

Townsend hit 7-of-16 shots and added three blocks and two assists in 34 minutes off the bench against Cal State Fullerton. The three blocks gives Townsend a school record 37 blocks.

Townsend finished the 2007-08 season with 283 rebounds, eighth-best for a single season at Cal State Northridge.

Townsend, a second team All-Big West selection, finished the year averaging 10.1 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. Townsend's rebound average is the highest single season total since the 1971-72 season when Paul McCracken averaged 12.0 rebounds per game.
