Kallie Benike Named WHAC Player of the Week

Benike is 2nd straight Panthers player to earn award

Feb. 11, 2008

Grand Rapids, Mich. - Kallie Benike has only played in two WHAC games in her career but her impact has already been felt by the rest of the league. After her efforts in Saturday's win against cross-town rival Aquinas College, Benike was named WHAC Player of the Week for the second time this year.

The freshman guard from Campbellsport, WI scored a career high 26 points in the Panthers 101-91 victory over Aquinas College on Saturday to help keep Davenport atop the WHAC standings at 10-0. The win against Aquinas marks the first time ever that Davenport has swept the Saints in a season series and a large part of the victory came from Benike who shot an amazing 90% from the field. Kallie also pulled down four rebounds in the win and will look to help the Panthers keep up their winning ways when they host UM-Dearborn this Wednesday and Cornerstone University on Saturday.
