FLYERS BLOW PAST FINDLAY, 13-3

DAYTON, Ohio - Homestanding Dayton used a 10-run outburst in the sixth inning to defeat Findlay, 13-3 in non-conference baseball action at a windy Time Warner Cable Stadium on Tuesday. With its second straight victory, UD will take a 12-7 record on a trip to Miami (Ohio) Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET. On a day that featured constant winds of 25 miles per hour that gusted to 40 miles per hour out to left field, senior Sean Finn was in control throughout the day on the mound for Dayton. The righthander earned a complete game victory after allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out seven on the afternoon. Findlay also got a solid starting effort from Bryce Whittington with 5.0 shutout innings, but the Flyers jumped on the Oiler bullpen for 10 runs, all with two outs, in the sixth inning to take control of the game. Max Navalinski and Cole Tyrell tallied multi-hit days for UD which also had one hit each by seven other players. Navalinski singled, doubled and homered while scoring twice and collecting a career-high seven RBI. Tyrell was hit by a pitch and singled three times while scoring once for UD. Jonathan Castine came off the bench to score three runs after being hit by a pitch, drawing a walk and collecting a single to drive in one run of his own. Scott Dunwoody finished 1-for-5 with a single and two runs scored while Kevin Miller singled, scored a run and drove in two more for the Flyers. |
