Box Score

ARLINGTON, VA - Visiting Dayton exploded for 12 runs on 18 hits in support of a complete-game effort from Lucas Farden in a 12-1 Atlantic 10 Conference baseball victory over George Washington on Friday. With its third straight win in conference play, UD improved to 20-16 overall and 5-8 in A-10 action.

Seven of the Flyers' 18 hits went for extra bases on the afternoon including another home run by Marshall MacDonald in the fifth inning that gave UD the lead for good. McDonald has now hit six home runs in the last seven games and the current A-10 Player of the Week finished 2-for-5 with a walk, stolen base, two runs scored and three RBI to go along with his blast to left field.

Senior Lucas Farden made the big offensive day hold up for Dayton with a complete-game effort that included seven strikeouts. He scattered seven hits and two walks to allow just one run to lift his record to 3-5 in his second start of the season.

Farden also had plenty of insurance from Kevin Miller and Myles Swartzel that added two RBI apiece. Miller was 2-for-5 with a sacrifice fly and a run scored from the leadoff spot while Swartzel doubled in a 1-for-5 day.

Jake Hoover had his best performance in Atlantic 10 Conference play this season with a 4-for-4 game that included two doubles, a home run, hit by pitch and two runs scored.

Ryan Nevill and Jacob Spaeth were also plunked by GW pitchers to give UD 76 batters hit by pitch in only 36 games played. Nevill has now been hit 16 times, which is the third highest total in the program's single-season history. He finished 2-for-4 with a double, sacrifice bunt, two runs scored and a RBI. Spaeth has been hit 14 times this season after a 2-for-4 effort of his own to go along with a run scored and a RBI.

Junior Scott Dunwoody finished 2-for-5 with a walk, stolen base, two runs scored and a RBI for Dayton, which continues its series at George Washington Saturday at 1 p.m. ET. Fans can follow the action with Gametracker at www.DaytonFlyers.com.
