Ryan Nevill hit his third homer of the season in a loss to EKU on Tuesday

DAYTON, Ohio - Homestanding Dayton could not keep pace with Eastern Kentucky in the late innings as the Flyers lost 10-4 in non-conference baseball action on Tuesday at Time Warner Cable Stadium. With the loss, UD falls to 29-24 overall this season.

After falling behind early, the Flyers took a 4-3 lead in the fourth on a two-run homer by Ryan Nevill. However, the lead would be short lived as the Colonels scored four runs in the sixth and one each in the seventh, eighth and ninth inning to pull out a victory on the road.

Nevill's homer was his third of the season and the third extra-base hit of the game for UD. Scott Dunwoody doubled as part of a 2-for-4 performance that included two runs scored. Shawn Gizynski also collected a double to finished 1-for-3 with a hit by pitch and a RBI.

Kevin Miller was 2-for-3 with a hit by pitch and a RBI while Marshall MacDonald finished 2-for-4 as Dayton was out hit by Eastern Kentucky 16-9.

Jake Hoover (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season after allowing five runs on eight hits over 5.0 innings pitched. He struck out seven and walked just one while making his fifth start of the season.

Ryan Hill surrendered two runs on two hits while striking out one batter before freshman Tim Corbey came on to allow just one earned run on three hits in 1.2 innings of relief.

Willy Balbach gave up only one hit while pitching to four batters in the eighth inning and Tim Lynn allowed one run on two hits while striking out one batter in the ninth for UD.

Dayton will play host to Duquesne in the final Atlantic 10 series of the regular season this weekend at Time Warner Cable Stadium. The Flyers and Dukes will square off on Thursday (3 p.m. ET), Friday (3 p.m. ET) and Saturday (Noon ET) will playoff hopes on the line for both sides in a three-game set that can be followed with Gametracker at www.DaytonFlyers.com.
