INDIANAPOLIS - Visiting Dayton increased its winning streak to six with a sweep of a non-conference baseball doubleheader at Butler on Wednesday. UD took the opener 6-2 before routing BU in the finale, 19-2 while improving to 24-16 overall. A three-RBI effort by Kevin Miller in his hometown of Indianapolis led Dayton past Butler, 6-2 in the opener. Miller finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored while driving in three runs to pace a Flyer offense that out hit the Bulldogs, 10-6. Scott Dunwoody and Cole Tyrell each added multi-hit performances in support of a stellar pitching effort from the duo of Jake Hoover and Burny Mitchem. Dunwoody was 2-for-4 with two RBI while Tyrell went 2-for-2 with a sacrifice bunt and a run scored. Hoover started the day on the mound and allowed just two runs on five hits over 5.1 innings pitched. He improved to 2-0 on the year after recording six strikeouts while giving up just one walk and retiring the side in order three times. Dayton exploded for its second-highest scoring output of the season to record a 19-2 victory at Butler in the finale. Dayton tallied 19 runs on 20 hits, four hit batters, four walks and one Butler error in the second game of the twinbill. Seven different Flyers scored multiple runs in the game while also recording multi-hit games. Jake Hoover led the charge with a 3-for-5 effort that included a home run, three runs scored and five RBI. He was followed by Marshall MacDonald who posted a 2-for-4 effort with a double, hit by pitch, three runs scored and three RBI. Ryan Nevill hit his first home run in a Flyer uniform while finishing 3-for-4 while adding a double, hit by pitch, two runs scored and three driven in. Click here for a complete recap of game two. The Flyers will return home to host a three-game Atlantic 10 Conference series against Richmond this weekend.
